CART Cleanup a Success

April 26, 2014 was a wonderful day for the Community Action Renewal Team (CART) community wide cleanup.  CART is an action team of the Tri-C Partners 4 Progress. This action team plans, organizes and implements the annual community cleanup. Students from Jefferson C-123 School help man the two dumpsters arranged by CART.  CART members work with the students to pack the dumpsters as full as possible with trash brought in by community members.  There is a dumpster placed near the American Legion building in Conception Jct. and one at the south end of Clyde near Dan’s Welding.  Both of these town’s government agencies give a donation to support this project.  Don McCrary also helps by providing trailers for metal and electronics recyclables.   Those contributing trash as encouraged to give a small donation for the convenience of this yearly service.

Scavenger Hunt Canceled

Scavenger hunt due to take place March 28th has been canceled due to lack of interest.

The Community Action Renewal  Team (CART) will look at the possibility of having this event in the fall.

Coming up April 26, 2014 is the CART clean up day.  Pitch in to help clean up the community if you can possibly join us.  If you need help with larger items to take to the dumpsters please contact a member of the team before and they will arrange help.

Rooted In the Past, Bearing For the Future

Thank you to everyone who made the Rooted In the Past, Bearing For the Future event a great success. The students and their sponsors did a great job with the displays. Our panelist made some good points about "sign up, show up". We wished for more community members to attend and support the students, but perhaps next year will be better attended. Pictures to follow.
Below are a few of the comments I heard:
“I really liked the tree idea.”
“It was so interesting to see the students who were involved in a number of organizations.—this from a political candidate who attended.
“The kids did such a good job presenting their organizations.”
“It was difficult to pick 5 to display at the Scavenger hunt event.”
“I wish our school could do something like this.”  Yes we did have people from at least three other schools attend.
“The panel did a great job making some very valid points”.

“I hope the students take note of the points the panel made.”
